Servers are at the heart of any sophisticated business network. The name implies their purpose; they "serve" files and applications (programs) to client (user) computers. When we refer to servers, we are speaking of a separate class of computer built on more robust hardware than the average machine. Sometimes the term server is applied to a computer in an office environment where the company files are centrally stored. Other times it refers to the main computer where the primary files of a particular piece of software are running as well such as in the case of most POS (Point of Sale) systems. These definitions are not inherently wrong, they are simply referring to expanded roles of standard computers rather than a "proper server" such as this page refers to.

The primary differences between what AXEON produces for servers and the average computer are both defined by the hardware as well as the software.

Hardware differences are as follows:

• Redundant power supply
• RAID (Redundant Array of Inexpensive/Independent Disks) Array instead of a single hard drive (this way a drive can fail and the server keeps going without data loss)
• Quad-Core Processor(s)
• Upgraded Motherboard
• Backup System

The main software difference is the Operating System. We prefer and recommend Microsoft Server products though there are good options from Apple as well as "open source" systems like Linux.

At AXEON, we build servers based on our customer's needs. We build primarily 2 varieties of servers that we have called our "Silver Series" and our (you guessed it) "Gold Series". Our Silver Series servers are designed for smaller offices -up to roughly 15 users depending on what the business demands on the server will be. We use the best in PC hardware to produce a quality, reliable piece of equipment for smaller offices. These still use redundant systems like our larger systems. Our Gold Series employs more robust Intel hardware throughout as we have found Intel to be exceptionally reliable and have become resellers of their hardware as a result. These servers can either be stand-alone or rack-mounted depending on the environment in which they will operate.

All AXEON servers come with a 2 year parts and labor warranty.
