Data Recovery PDF Print E-mail

Several times each week we receive a call or have a customer come to our office with files on a computer that they can no longer find.  Perhaps the computer won't even "boot up" any longer or their storage device just won't reveal any files that were there the last time they were on their computer.  Resolving these issues falls under "Data Recovery" and we can get it done.

Basically, data recovery falls into two camps.  First, the hard drive has become corrupted in some way -perhaps just a scrambled "index" or fragmented files.  Second, the hard drive has stopped working physically.

If the hard drive is still functional, we can usually recover any data (files) that are on it though it can take between several hours and several days to do so.  This usually costs less that $300 and sometimes as little as $150 or so.

If the hard drive is not functional, we send it to a special lab where they remove the "platters" (literally "hard discs" within the drive enclosure) and copy the data to a new hard drive that you can use in any computer.  This service is rarely less than $1500 so it goes without saying that if the drive is dead, you should be sure the files are important and irreplaceable enough to warrant that expense.

Best off, always make sure your critical data is backed up to a seperate device regularly so data recovery is an expense you can avoid.
